John Jigg$ X DJ Concept – Good Friday (Album Review)

John Jigg$ X DJ Concept - Good Friday

John Jigg$ and DJ Concept combine their talents for this ‘Good Friday’ EP.

Long Island natives John Jigg$ and DJ Concept drop their first collaborative EP. The EP is Hip Hop lyrical and production excellence. John Jigg$ packs enough fire in his pen that artists who have writers-block should hire him to write for them. The EP perfectly displays John’s writing skills that if he wanted to write movie scripts he could transition smoothly. John Jigg$ offers listeners the best seat in the house for his for his movie like ‘Good Friday‘ EP.

Throughout the 6 tracks on Good Friday, John Jigg$ continues his journey to return Hip Hop to its former self. Jigg$ paints a motion picture with this new EP.

The album’s tempo is Jazz influenced but Jigg$ stays in his pocket with all production being provided by DJ Concept. The album is a great amalgamation of emcee and producer that could easily be the score for one if Ice Cube’s Friday movies.

“The God hard-core until they cartin’ me off/survived habitat with juggernauts blood on the ox slice the loaf with butter on top/got the same thing the Government got/you probably never met you pops because your mother was “THOT” is how John JIgg$ starts on the opening track, “Deer Season.”

The EP has a few guest features that includes SmooVth on “Deer Season,”  Beefman on “Savior Faire” and Recognize Ali on “The Whole Truth.” Each artist adds to the concept of the album without jeopardizing the validity. The album is very well developed and should be a great introduction to those who may not know Jonh Jigg$.

“I hear they calling me a legend in the making/I pray to heaven I be a legend that make it/ I’m not a reverend, you should study revelations/this is God’s work, hard work instead of vacation/profound author, bottle of brown water/my mind migrated, it’s like I’m out of town sorta/a cow slaughtered can feed an entire village/ there’s a means to an end/it’s a reason for why we pillage.”  This is how John Jigg$ ends EP on “One King.”

Listeners will hear an authenticity from Jigg$ in this “Good Friday” EP. There is nothing on the EP that sounds forced on contrived. After listening to this, we think you will search for more from the Long Island artist.
