Top 8 Singles April 8 – April 14 ft. Chuck D, Bishop Lamont & Mykill Miers , Young Deuces & KXNG Crooked

With our Top 8 Singles list, we present the top 8 singles based on our staff picks.

This week our staff has chosen another 8 from April 8 – April 14. This week’s list is led by singles from Slum Village, MeRCY and ChanHays.

Chuck D, Bishop Lamont & Mykill Miers ft. Create & Devastate – I Rap Black (prod. by Max I Million)

“I Rap Black” is a powerful collaborative statement from rappers Chuck D, Bishop Lamont, and Mykill Miers, who kick serious knowledge over a slapping instrumental from Swedish producer, Max I Million. They’re also joined by Swedish deejay/turntablist duo Create & Devastate—the latter of whom tragically passed this past March—with outro cuts handled by Besh One.

Young Deuces – Martin-Malcolm

Venturing out on his first solo effort, Young Deuces releases his first single “Martin-Malcolm” from his upcoming album My Unapologetic Black Thoughts.  The song follows the mind of someone who start’s off with the mindset of Martin Luther King Jr. but due to the current climate,  senseless killings of black men and women.

KXNG Crooked – Kane Street (Ode To Big Daddy Kane)

Kane Street” is inspired by hip-hop icon Big Daddy Kane‘s classic single “Smooth Operator” and it feels like its 1989 all over again. KXNG Crookedand Jonathan Hay assembled a big team for “Kane Street” which includes  Mike Smith, Ranna Royce, Toon, The Visionary And The Architect, DJ Manipulator, Louie Gonz, King Graint, Mani Ajami and Benny Reid.
