Peasant Podium Music is proud to present Sophisticated Savage, the self-titled debut from the Hip-Hop trio consisting of Emcee’s Rhinoceros Funk, MC WhiteOwl and Yahzeed.
Sophisticated Savage’s members are all New York City underground veterans, raised during the Golden Age of 1980’s & 1990’s Hip-Hop, devoted to the delivering true school Boom-Bap to the masses. ‘Sophisticated Savage’ the LP is the group’s first full length album, featuring production by Bombeardo, DJ Menace, Emphatic, Fred Ones, Frost Gamble, Jakk Wonders, Silent Someone and Wann Sklobi. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered entirely at T.M.E. Pro Studios in the South Bronx, New York, by Fred Ones.
Rhinoceros Funk is the co-founder of Peasant Podium Music, ( along w/ Fred Ones ), co-creator of NYC’s live Hip-Hop event “ The Art of Lyrics, “ a brilliant wordsmith and a master orator that is best known in the undergroud Hip-Hop scene as the co-host of Guerrilla Grooves Radio ( along side Fred Ones ). Rhinoceros Funk released the LP “ An Aesthetic Act of Aggression “ on Peasant Podium Music in 2016 and is currently working on his follow up LP, “Extra Duck Sauce.”
MC WhiteOwl is a DJ and MC with an unrivaled work ethic, a member of the underground Hip-Hop collective Certain.Ones, and an artist that since 2013 has steadily released a diverse catalog of Boom-Bap records with a wide array of top Hip-Hop producers. WhiteOwl released his “ Born Yesterday “ LP on Straight DopeRecords/Peasant Podium Music in 2018 and is currently working on the follow up LP, “ Oldies But Hoodies, “ produced entirely by DMC battle-tested Bombeardo.
Yahzeed aka Yahzillah ( The Red Eye Jedi ) is a freestyle virtuoso and a member of the Guerrilla Grooves Radio family that is best known for his EP release “ Of Monolithic Proportions, “ produced by DJ Preservation and his work with the New York based live Hip-Hop band, “Funk Pterodactyl.”
