Latino-Canadian rapper Divo has teamed up with producer Atwell to release “Generation Next,†a follow album up to Divo’s previous award-winning project with French producer, GMJ, “Transatlantic Soul.†Divo’s versatility as an artist and Atwell’s dynamic production is showcased in this two disc EP, available June 30, 2020, which features six original songs along with corresponding instrumentals. The eclectic sounds vary on each track from digitally infused trap, saxophone sampled hip-hop to the reggaeton inspired single “Showdown.†Divo effortlessly raps in both English and Spanish throughout the album, paying homage to his Guatemalan roots and deep appreciation of different genres.
The single “Loyalty†landed on Spotify’s Rap Skills playlist as part of Atwell’s “Above the Clouds†album and the music video for “El Rey†is out now. The album’s artwork, designed by Divo himself, features photos of both artists as toddlers writing verses and making beats, a nod to how far they have come and a glimpse into the creative savvy they possessed from day one.
