Lyric Jones connects with Vic Mensa for her latest release, “Show You How.”
Los Angeles-based rapper/singer, multi-hyphenate Lyric Jones announced last month that her next album was being executive produced by Phonte (of Little Brother and The Foreign Exchange). On Thursday (9/17/2020), Lyric announced the album title Closer Than They Appear, and shared the project’s lead single “Show You How,” exclusively via HipHop-N-More. Featuring Chicago’s own Vic Mensa, the buoyant, sensual new single is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
“The goal with this song is simple: to have fun! It’s been a stressful year and my music as of lately has been serious or very pensive. I wanted to switch it up in all aspects from the genre, personnel, and topic. Women’s sexuality has been a hot topic over the past couple months. I feel the beauty with words is how you use them. I wanted to have a ‘sexy’ bop but paint the picture while leaving room for imagination and less explicit. Having Vic Mensa on this was a random suggestion I threw at Phonte, and it worked out perfectly.” – Lyric Jones
