Jay-Z will be taking center stage at South By Southwest on March 12th and the Brooklyn legend is looking to take his show online as it will be broadcast live from the Austin City Limits. The performance will be bolstered by American Express and fans that miss the initial live show will have a chance to watch Hov’s SXSW performance when it rebroadcasts on-demand from March 13th to 19th.
According to Billboard, the performance is part of American Express’ Twitter experience and will allow Amex cardholders to benefit from special offers including promotions from Best Buy, McDonald’s and Zappos when they tweet specific hashtags. In addition to the promotional bent, the twitter supported promotion will allow fans to make requests during Hov’s performance over the social networking site.
The performance is Jay-Z’s second go at SXSW as the rapper surprised the festival’s hip hop enthusiasts last year when he stopped in to support Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music showcase and topped up a bill that already included John Legend, Mos Def, Pusha T, Big Sean and Kid Cudi.
The festival has already booked a number of hip hop acts including Jay-Z, GZA, Kendrick Lamar, Curren$y, Mobb Deep, Wiz Khalifa as well as list of other artists. Rumors are still circulating that the festival could see a showing from Eminem but the festival has yet to add the Detroit rapper to its listings.
