It’s no secret that sneakers and hip hop go hand. The two have always been heavily integrated, and rappers have been talking about their favorite kicks since back in the day. It is also a known fact that Nike is the largest brand in the sneaker game, and Reebok looks to tap into the hip hop music culture to help gain some ground on the Swoosh.
Reebok has been teaming up with Swizz Beatz now for quite some time dropping several renditions of the ‘Swizz Beatz x Reebok Kamikaze’ sneaker silhouettes during 2011. To help promote the brand, Swizz Beatz teamed up with Maybach Music Group’s own Rick Ross and Meek Mill for the hit single ‘Reebok Back.’
Well it turns out that Reebok took a liking to the song and appeal of Ross, and decided to sign the Maybach Music Group CEO to endorse their Reebok Classics line. Seeing how quickly Swizz Beatz Kamikaze sneakers sold out at retail stores, and how well the ‘Reebok Back’ track was received, signing Ross comes as no surprise.
