Missy Elliott And Timbaland – Not Involved In Aaliyah Project

Missy Elliott And TimbalandContrary to previous reports both Missy Elliott and Timbaland are not involved in Aaliyah’s upcoming album.

In the case of Aaliyah‘s upcoming posthumous album, information has become misinformation again, as now both Timbaland and Missy Elliott have released a statement saying they will not be part of the project.  This comes after Jomo Hankerson, of Aaliyah’s label Blackground Recordings said that both Missy and Timbo were attached.

Drake, who is “commanding” the project with producer Noah “40” Shebib, had originally said that people “essential” to Aaliyah’s career in the past would be involved – which implies that the two artists synonymous with Aaliyah would be on the album.  Now, in a statement via Billboard, from Missy’s manager, Mona Scott-Young, not only will Missy not be involved in the project, but previous reports of Timbaland signing on to produce a couple songs is false as well.

“Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate,” the statement from Missy’s manager reads. “We’ve seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated.”

It appears the duo feel slightly by not being involved originally, which Timbaland hinted at in a previous statement.  Hopefully Drake and Blackground can reach out to Missy and Timbaland and get everything
