Via Peter Rosenberg’s Hot 97 Morning Show Talib Kweli discusses the possibility of a Black Star reunion.
This morning Talib Kweli sat down with Peter Rosenberg and The Hot 97 Morning Show when the subject of a Black Star reunion was mentioned. The group, which consist of Kweli and fellow Brooklynite Mos Def (aka Yasiin Bey), has not dropped an album since 1998.
Kweli and Mos Def connected at the Rock The Bells tour last year, but Kweli admits that he was not sure of the possibility of a reunion. “It’s a toss up. But you know what, the great thing about Black Star is it was never dependent on the output of the album,” he said. “It was like a lighting in a bottle thing, our intention was to do that one album and then do our solo careers, but people loved that album.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding a follow-up project to their 1998 project, Kweli said the two emcees still do shows together constantly.
