K. Sparks gives an introspective look at his life on his new ‘Note To Self’ album.

When K. Sparks released his ‘Make America Fake Again’ visual, is the last time we heard from him. The song discusses the various racial and political dynamics within our society in these present times. On ‘Note To Self’ K. Sparks really flaunts his about to flip different rhyme patterns and flows. This album is more like a movie set to music as K. Sparks travels through a number scenes sonically to share where he once was and where he is now.

On ‘Questions‘ he returns to his past and remembers distant memories about a relationship. Have you ever been in a relationship and maybe had questions about your significant other? K. Sparks explains that life is the hardest teacher the we will ever have a chance to master. His lyrics are those that make you revisit your past and change your steps moving forward. “Life the hardest teacher ya’ll could ever get to master/get a test first, then ya’ll get that lesson after.” The ultimate lesson in the song is to follow your dreams no matter the obstacles in front of you.

When you hear K. Sparks, he provokes you to think about the steps you have taken in your life as he provides those he took. As you listen, the path(s) that you have taken become more vivid in your mind and this helps you to relate more to what K. Sparks is delivering.

The title track ‘Note To Self‘ is more of a dark track. The track’s hook is one that will make you think that K. Sparks would do something to hurt himself. He says that he cannot get along with the people he knows and that he just wants to be free.

This album appears to have a little for everyone to enjoy. He changes up his flow on ‘Addicted To Self’ which sounds like many of the songs that have gone double platinum. His cadence on this track is that of one of the top “trap” records that are in rotation on every station. K. Sharp really shows his versatility on this record.

This album covers a number of topics that we all question about our lives. On ‘G.O.M.F’ Sparks wants people to get out of his face with that old negative energy that people continue to come with.

K. Sparks is a talented artist who has blended the new and old on ‘Note to Self’. The album should appeal to many that like boom bap and those alternatives that have expressed themselves using Hip Hop. The album drops on November 5.
