King Shampz & Azzan “Dawn Of The Dead” Album Review

On Friday King Shampz and his brother Azzan will release their new album titled “Dawn Of The Dead.” The album is something that the two at last minute put together that just might be album of the year. The album cover really sets the tone for what you will hear once you download the album. The cover artwork displays several pictures that leaves nothing to the imagination. King Shampz delivers lyrics that take us back to when Ice-T was yelling f&ck the police. Oddly enough, it is Ice-T who I thought of when listening to Shampz spit. It is the singularity in each of their voices that is really pre-eminent.

During the golden era of Hip-Hop artists weaved within their rhymes things that were taking place in our communities. King Shampz and Azzan will delivery this album during a time where people are experiencing a great unknown. If you are a fan of the street-tales, Dead Wrong Records, King Shampz and Azzan have nailed it with this album. The production on this project was provide solely by Azzan and delivers in a major way.

The founder of Dead Wrong Records, Shampz aims to put his stamp on the industry. The West Philadelphia native has an edge on most, as West Philly is where gansta rap started, with Schoolly D.

“Dawn Of The Dead” begins with the boss track, “Forbes Ni**az.” The track details the things of those you find is Forbes Magazine, hot women, lots of money, and the flashy jewelry. Handing fans the baton to his music. It is very clear who this album will resonate with, real hustlers.

Shifting into 2nd gear on “Hot Shit”  King Shampz describes how the women are in love with his image, the image of a West Philly boss on his grind. Shampz is all about his stacks and if you are in his way, you might find those hot ones headed your way.

On “Everything” King Shampz teams up with his brother Azzan and Frio. The single details how women want the Sun, Moon, and the Stars from them but will never get it.

Shampz is not alone on this project. He joined by other on the Dead Wrong Records roster. On “Cocalina” Rxdiio Rxh and Def Soulja come through the grimey bars and from the sound of things, Dead Wrong Records has a bright future.

Winter is approaching and it is now hoodie season. “Dawn Of The Dead” is one of those albums that you would get with your team and listen to it in the project hallways despite the cold weather. This album is definitely a throwback but also a look forward.

2020 has been a weird year to say the least, but with “Dawn Of The Dead” from Dead Wrong Records, we have something to look forward to in the new year and beyond. King Shampz and Azzan (his brother and producer), have assembled a really good album. Is Dead Wrong Records the new wave? Only time will tell!
