JiMMY BRiCKZ Drops New “THE BRiCK Tape” EP

JiMMY BRiCKZ drops off his new EP titled The BRiCK TapeTHE BRiCK Tape EP.

Who speaks for Scarborough? In JiMMY BRiCKZ, a new voice is emerging.

Hailing from Toronto’s gritty east end, JiMMY BRiCKZ first burst onto the scene with a love letter penned for his neighbourhood — with “Scarborough” quickly becoming a local hit and garnering acclaim from critics and tastemakers including Complex, Noisey, and Exclaim. From there, he began to earn international attention, performing at festivals like SXSW and Mondo.NYC, as well as alongside artists like Travis Scott, Ab-Soul and Joey Bada$$.

In the midst of this rise, JiMMY had to hit pause. Years of personal tragedies began to add up — family members and friends lost to the streets he revered in his music. As JiMMY details in “Angels”, he realized you can either be a victim, a witness, or a killer, and he chose to use these adversities as opportunities for personal growth.

From this pain and struggle emerges The BRiCK Tape: the new EP capturing these moments in JiMMY’s life and community. A collection of eight songs, The BRiCK Tape tells the story of building yourself up brick by brick, slowly and carefully piecing together a life of which you can be proud.

Mirroring its own theme, the EP was meticulously assembled by JiMMY and his longtime engineer Krinny (Jazz Cartier, 88Glam, Kirk Knight). It boasts a slew of powerful collaborators, with production from FrancisGotHeat (Drake, Big Sean, Bryson Tiller), Cian P (Lil Peep, Wifisfuneral, Pouya), and Litewrks (Nue, Tre Mission) as well as vocal features from fellow Toronto artists DillanPonders and Faiza.

With The BRiCK Tape, JiMMY brings the story of Scarborough to the world. And while his heart is never far from home, rest assured he’s got bigger places to go.
