Markee Steele Announces New Name & Record Label, Releases Three New Songs & Music Video

Markee Steele is back with a new name and video.

On Monday (10/12/2020), the North Carolina emcee formerly known as Mark Steele broke his nearly year-long silence to reintroduce himself as Markee Steele. His former stage name, given to him by his college professor and mentor 9th Wonder, was an abbreviation of his middle government name. With a renewed sense of self, Steele‘s reintroduction was accompanied by the announcement of  his new label Marquee Recordings, as well as the impending release of new music. Today (10/16/2020), that new music arrives in the form of 3 Piece, an offering of three new songs (“Cruise Control”, “Slide”, and “Love”) with an accompanying, self-directed visual.

I had an unfinished idea and a couple records that didn’t make the cut [for my next album]. These records ironically summed up three different vibes I focused on throughout the project. When I put it together it felt like a crafty blend of three totally different paintings from the same artist– like Leonardo Da Vinci pulling up 2 extra chairs at the ‘Last Supper’ and letting ‘Lady With an Ermine’ and ‘Mona Lisa’ take a seat. Since we are creators, and this is in fact art, then here’s my ‘3 Piece’“. – Markee Steele
