Gemaine Embraces Conditional Love In New Song And Video

Gemaine & Charlie Heat - Conditional Love

Gemaine makes his SpitFireHipHop debut with “Conditional Love” song and video.

Compton singer-songwriter Gemaine and super-producer DJ Charlie Heat release the third single “Conditional Love” from their collaborative forthcoming album New Jack City available April 15th. Over a seductive track, Gemaine croons about the exchange of fake love for gifts and companionship with smooth vocals, tender lyrics and unapologectic sex appeal. BET Soul officially premiered the music video and the track was added to their BET Soul Playlist today. It will also air on Revolt TV’s indie artist show Untapped at 7PM PT / 11PM ET tonight.

Gemaine explains, “This song is about being honest in relationships. “For a while it was fun to play the game and be down for conditional love because at the time I wanted the same thing. It was purely transactional. She gave me what I wanted and I did the same for her, but we both knew it wasn’t real love and that was fine.”

New Jack City includes the previously released singles “Lay It Down” and “No Questions” which were both selected for “Best R&B of The Week” at Uproxx. Moreover, Apple Music and Ebro selected the latter to play on Discovered last month. The music from the album has landed playlists like Apple’s “Breaking R&B,” Spotify’s “Alternative R&B,” Amazon’s “Fresh R&B” and TIDAL’s “Future Soul.” The official music video for lead single “No Questions” reached over over 100K plays on YouTube.. On New Jack City, Gemaine works with in-house production partners Ymtk and DJ Charlie Heat who serves as executive producer and boasts credentials with Kanye West, Lil Uzi Vert, Kehlani, Da Baby, Madonna and more. Buoyed by the success of early studio sessions, Gemaine and Charlie Heat quickly realized their collective potential and took the ambitious step toward completing a collaborative project. Inspired by the pace and swagger of gangster films like the gritty 1991 thriller New Jack City, Gemaine and his partners developed a spacious musical signature that lends cinematic flair to even the most effervescent jams and cements an artistic brotherhood derived from what he describes as the collective’s “ruthless” work ethic.
