Joey B drops off his new single titled “By Myself.”
The DIY approach isn’t for everyone, but when an artist can keep hustling, grinding, and reach his goals on his own terms, the payoff is priceless. At least, that’s how it must feel for North Chelmsford, Mass.’s own Joey B, a rising MC who’s latest single, “By Myself,†finds him teaming with one of his biggest influences, Joe Budden.
The two make for a fitting lyrical duo, particularly given that neither is scared to rap about the uglier side of life while throwing middle fingers to the doubters. And that mentality is on full display through “By Myself†in addition to Joey B giving himself some credit for his hard work: “I’m not the one to talk sh*t, who the f*ck am I kiddin’?/ But check it, in two years I turned a hobby to career.†He’s not kidding, either; he recently came off a tour opening for Crooked I and secured this slapping instrumental from C-Lance, known for his work with Vinnie Pazz and Rittz.
Of course, Budden is no slouch either, as he spits a sharp guest verse filled with knowledge, shoulder-brushing, and maturity. That’s particularly true when he rhymes, “I pay no mind to all the rumors and insinuatin’/ I’m past the age of false truths that give me stimulation.†Really, that’s just some good-ass life advice.
