J. Sands drops this new single “Steel City Talk” featuring August Wilson.

August Wilson is a renowned playwright from the Hill District neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. On Christmas Day the playwright’s “Fences” play hit the movie theaters. A Hollywood studio proposed filming Wilson’s play Fences. He insisted that a black director be hired for the film, saying: “I declined a white director not on the basis of race but on the basis of culture. White directors are not qualified for the job. The job requires someone who shares the specifics of the culture of black Americans.”

J. Sands a Pittsburgh MC from the Manchester neighborhood of the City pens this new single called “Steel City Talk” featuring August Wilson. Th single includes excerpts from an August Wilson interview where he talks about changes happening in his neighborhood and the definition of “black” and “white”.  J. Sands takes on a ride through many of the neighborhoods of Pittsburgh as he describes on he grew up in Pittsburgh.
