Jeru The Damaja is back with a new single after more than one year. The Brooklyn artist who is best known for his ‘The Sun Rises in the East’ album. Some say that his ‘The Sun Rises in the East’ album was significant in the revival of East Coast Hip-Hop.
Today, with the current climate that we live in, Jeru releases ‘Power‘. The single leads off by discussing the image of Black men in society. Did you know that Black men are six ties more likely than White men to be murder victims?
The single eludes to unity being the real enemy. The powers that be ultimately do not want unity among the people which is why the imagery that is presented is most often negative about Black men. Unity is ultimately what we need. Look for the ‘Power’ video which will be released tomorrow.
