Craig Mack - Former Badboy Artist Found Dead at 46

Bad Boy ‘Flava In Ya Ear’ rapper Craig Mack is now dead at 46.  He was found unresponsive late last night at his residence in South Carolina.

Rick Ross survived his health scare.  Unfortunately Craig Mack has been ill for some time and could not overcome.

Late last night, the 90s Bad Boy rapper was found unresponsive.  Mack — yeah, his real name is ‘Craig Mack’ — was apparently suffering from a fatal and chronic heart condition.  He passed away in a hospital near his home in Walterboro, South Carolina, after being found unresponsive.

Mack, originally from Long Island, experienced rap fame in the early 90s, thanks to his smash hit, ‘Flava In Ya Ear’.  The track was played, re-played, and re-mixed for years, and still remains a staple of 90s East Coast rap.  The song was shuttled to the top by the venerable Bad Boy enterprise, with Diddy and Notorious B.I.G. anchoring the powerful operation.

Indeed, Craig Mack was one of several successful Bad Boy ‘products,’ though ‘Flava In Ya Ear’ was one of the label’s biggest all-time hits.

Maybe that machine chewed Mack up and spit him out.  Ultimately, Mack was a one-hit wonder, and a forgotten rapper.  After ‘Flava,’ there wasn’t a follow-up hit, and Craig Mack’s second album flopped.  Actually, his first album didn’t get much attention outside of ‘Flava’.

Since those days, Mack distanced himself from rap.

A devoutly religious person, Mack apparently doubled-down on his religious activities, moved from New York, and stopped rapping.  It was even reported that Mack was part of a strange cult, though we’ve heard mixed reports on that one.

The death itself was unexpected, though Mack was apparently nursing a fatal heart condition.

“I just got a disturbing phone call. I cannot believe this dude is gone,” DJ Scratch recently stated on Instagram.   “He just reached out a couple of weeks ago for me to speak on his documentary about his life.  Craig was my roadie on tour. He would set up & break down my turntables every night… Rest In Peace Lil Bro.”

R.I.P. Craig Mack: 1971-2018.
