MikeyyAustin – Dark Liquor

MikeyyAustin closes the year on that ‘Dark Liquor’ in his new video.

As 2017 closes out, Mikeyy is set to release his Mixtape “Art4Sale” at the top of the year. For those that missed out on Mikeyy’s 2017 run, he’s released a handful of singles, music videos, performed all over, and dropped his debut album, L I F T E D! MikeyyAustin’s latest song, “Dark Liquor” is the last release of 2017.
This is the first video in the “Art4Sale” series, a story inspired by Mikeyy’s recent trip to D.C. Walking around H street and visiting what was once an all black neighborhood, the effect of gentrification was evident. Mikeyy wanted to create a project that spoke on social issues such as gentrification, police brutality, and mass incarceration, while keeping a soulful soundbed.

Mikeyy had this to say about the projects inspiration: “We met a man named Carleton, a homeless street artist who once lived on H St, but the districts “renovations”, increase on property taxes and rent, and new homes/businesses catered towards middle-class and business professionals forced him and many others out. He now sells his paintings at the corner of what used to be his home, in hopes of small dollars for food for the day. Art4Sale is about taking our realities and painting a picture others can identify with or bring awareness to the uninformed.”

Dark Liquor come right in time for the New Years Eve Celebration.
