DJ Criminal returns with the new video for “Mountain Tops” featuring Slug (Atmosphere), Blueprint & Jennifer Charles (Elysian Fields)
Underground Hip Hop Blog has premiered a new video from turntablist/producer DJ Criminal this morning. “Mountain Tops” is an ethereal and orchestral dose of hip-hop featuring Slug (Atmosphere), Blueprint and Elysian Fields vocalist Jennifer Charles. Directed by Blueprint himself, the visuals mirror the introspective lyrics of a journey across great obstacles.

Speaking on his collaborators Criminal revealed “I actually first met Slug and Blueprint while in college. After I graduated I interned at Rhymesayers for a bit, solidifying my relationship with both. I fell in love with Jennifer’s vocals (as many other people did) through her work on the Mike Patton & Dan The Automator album Lovage. This is actually her first appearance on a hip-hop track since that album.
“Mountain Tops” is a new leak from the forthcoming LP The Smuggler’s Candle. To drop digitally on August 26th the album is Criminal’s most ambitious and varied work to date. In addition to a myriad of musical textures (which includes several instrumental tracks rife with transitions, scratches and samples) Criminal acts as curator for an underground hip-hop wish list of collaborators.
