Mental illness is not a personal failure, it is like fighting a war where the enemy’s strategy is to convince you that the war isn’t actually happening. That said, it is important to acknowledge that we all have gone through mental battles and sometimes it is OK not to be OK.
Princeton, New Jersey hometown hero, Bee Phox, a US Army and Desert Storm veteran has been fighting PTSD and mental illness ever since his prideful years of being a soldier. After discovering music can sometimes be the best medicine, Bee Phox picked up a microphone and set out on a mission to inspire while simultaneously treating his own deeply rooted scars.
Bee Phox’s new single and music video, “We Can Do It” featuring Unique Songbird with additional vocals by Cool Hugh, is a testament to the resilience and strength that still exists in our broken world. The Stoneface-produced soundscape immediately invokes good vibrations, setting the stage for Bee Phox to deliver his positive prose that hammers home a message to never give up. The visuals are captured and edited by Daryl King of Euphoria Media, who flawlessly documents a story of perseverance in the unfavorable face of adversity.
The music video displays a troubled youth who finds himself on the wrong side of the law and then reborn into a better version of himself upon his release from jail, proving unconquerable strength can be found in every single one of us. Cool Hugh of 2SOULJIERS spoke about “We Can Do It” explaining, “Bee Phox is currently receiving professional treatment for his mental illness, and we are all united in supporting Bee through his current battle. Right now the motto is: we can do it. We are all our brother’s keeper and together we will defeat whatever obstacles enter our collective path. Together we can do it.
