Top 8 Singles: February 12 – February 18 ft. Oddisee, Champagne Duane, & Keith Murray

With our Top 8 Singles list, we present the top 8 singles based on what our staff thinks.

This week our staff has chosen another 8 from February 12 through February 18. This week’s list is led by singles from Oddisee, Champagne Duane, & Keith Murray.Top 8 Singles: January 8 – January 14 ft. Hollywood FLOSS, Oh No & Tristate, & Dell-P

Oddisee ft. Toine – NNGE

Called ‘NNGE (Never Not Getting Enough),’ the track is trenchant and timely – a complex song about trying to stay positive in the face of adversity and its many forms. The track is propelled by a fiery, swift drum beat and deeply soulful chorus.

Champagne Duane

Capped by quotes from Barack Obama following fatal shootings of Black men by police in 2016. Duane‘s latest release ‘Gun Control‘ is perhaps the most controversial track on the upcoming album, The Campaign. With a militant approach, Duane has an eye-for-an-eye viewpoint on police brutality over a dark, sultry beat produced by Cee Goods that asks the question, “what if we shoot back?”

Keith Murray

Bringing back the old school feel to the newer age, Keith Murray spazzes out on the culture vultures with ‘No Exceptions’. Produced by Erick Sermon, the veteran MC doesn’t see any reason to give passes to those politically situated if they’re guilty of the masses’ sins. This isn’t a time for picking favorites, and Keith Murray’s loyalties are farther away in the past than most of these other cats can remember.
