Fong Sai U spends a few minutes with us to discuss what he has been up to over the last three years.
Three years ago Fong Sai U found himself in the middle of an ordeal with a guy named Solar and DJ Premier. A song that Fong Sai U produced for Guru landed on Gang Starr’s album, “One of The Best Yet.” Sai U says that Solar was paid well for the track and has not been heard from since he provided the track to DJ Premier.
Fong Sai U talks about meeting KXNG Crooked several years ago and how the two of them quickly became friends. He is now an inhouse producer for KXNG Crooked. Fong Sai U produced three tracks on the “Harbor City Season One” album from KXNG Crooked and Joell. The three songs are Community Center, 1-800 Get Hard, and Game Over. Sai U has even produced a track for Oprah and OWN Network.
He was very happy with this because it was Oprah. The conversation switch to things going on in the industry. The topic of record labels taking out insurance policies on the artists signed to them. French Montana actually talked about this earlier this year. Fong Sai U said that this has been going on for years according to what he as heard. He says if this is truly happening, the labels will never admit to this.
