Killah Priest – Rainforest (prod. by Big Banana)

Killah Priest connects with producer Big Banana for ‘Rainforest’.

Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Killah Priest has released a new “trap” single ‘Rainforest‘. Endowed with an intense religion-themed spiritual lyricism, Killah Priest burst onto the hip hop scene in the mid-1990s making several notable appearances on Wu-Tang Clan albums, including GZA’s classic “Liquid Swords”. After signing to Geffen in 1998, Killah Priest released the album “Heavy Mental” which cemented his status as hip hop’s most complex and visionary rhymer.

With the release of ‘Rainforest’ through the Los Angeles-based record label Red Monkey Klub, Killah Priest has revolted against expectations, crafting a love song with multiple singing hooks over a new school “trap”-style beat made by super-producer Big Banana. A rare “Golden Era” rapper who has successfully updated his style to match the current era of hip hop, Killah Priest proves with “Rainforest” to be a timeless talent with a progressive vision. Killah Priest refuses in ‘Rainforest’ to be pigeonholed in the box of “boom bap” and has re-invented himself, calling into question the very meaning of “real hip hop”.
