Acclaimed indie label Mello Music Group is back with a brand-new single “Share A Dream,” by Pale Jay and Chris Keys. “Share A Dream” is a bonus track from the vinyl version of Mello Music Group’s new compilation Omakase, the label’s most expansive, personal, and distinctive album yet. Pre-order the Omakase Deluxe Edition vinyl here.

“Share A Dream” is an awe-inspiring collaboration between Soul singer Pale Jay and LA based producer Chris Keys, known for his work on Lizzo’s Grammy nominated album “Special” and the Judas and the Black Messiah soundtrack . The stunning musical piece has an enchanting and dreamy sound. Pale Jay’s sultry vocals are brimming with soul as he delivers a captivating performance.

The Mello compilation series originated as a platform for the label owner to collaborate directly with artists, exploring new sounds, collaborations, and musical movements. “Omakase” is the latest addition to this series, crafted over the past two years. It showcases the Mello Music Group’s evolution, expanding its original position of Hip-Hop influenced by Jazz, Soul, R&B, and Funk.

With Omakase, Mello Music Group carefully balances the brilliance of their past with a boundary-pushing vision of its future. Familiar mainstays appear like Apollo Brown, Raheem DeVaughn, Marlowe (L’Orange & Solemn Brigham), Namir Blade, Denmark Vessey, Nolan, and Stalley. But there are also neck-swiveling heaters and occult hymns from other rising talents of the underground like YUNGMORPHEUS, Fatboi Sharif, and Fly Anakin. While the legendary Danny Brown incinerates 16-bars on an all-city burner alongside his fellow Detroit native, Paradime – the latest Mello Music Group signee.

Unlike most label anthologies that are little more than a scattered collection of bonus tracks, Omakase represents the culmination of a journey. Once pandemic restrictions were lifted, the label owner, Michael Tolle, hit the road, visiting different artists and cities in search of inspirations to stretch the parameters of the label’s possibilities. In each city, Tolle went crate-digging, hit underground shows, and ate a few exquisite meals from Michelin-starred sushi chefs.

The odyssey took him from Austin to Detroit, San Francisco to L.A. Miami to Phoenix – chasing eclectic sounds and rare wax, linking with artists, and attending shows for everyone from Alfa Mist to Pale Jay, Bobby Oroza to Kamasi Washington. Over the course of these travels, Tolle adopted “Omakase Everything” as a mantra, based on the belief that trusting others to show you their best is inherently a good idea. Through this journey and newly adopted motto, Omakase was created.

Omakase showcases the possibilities of what sound can be when it is untethered from crass commercialism and genre boxes making the bonus track  “Share A Dream” an excellent compliment to the masterful collection.
